The 2007 Culture Shapers Tee, designed by high school student Hung Pham

Congratulations to Hung Pham of Clear Creek High School!

Hung Pham, a Senior at Clear Creek High School, and 20 other students participated in the first-ever Culture Shapers T-Shirt Design Contest, which took place over the summer. The Culture Shapers staff and volunteers voted and Hung received the most votes, although it was a close contest between several of the designs.

In addition to winning 1st place in the contest, Hung Pham will also receive $500 cash, plus his design will be printed on 1,500+ t-shirts and distributed to every entrant in the 2007 Culture Shapers Visual Arts Contest!

Hung says he plans to save the $500 cash for college. We think you’ve got a bright future in design, Hung.

Bracelet of Bordeaux to Debut as Innovative Book/DVD Combo

Bracelet of Bordeaux innovative book and DVD comboThe Bracelet of Bordeaux, a children’s mystery adventure, will soon become a new breed of entertainment product with its launch at Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores across south Texas in the fall. For the first time in the history of the film and book industries, a full-length feature film and a novel will be packaged together, debuting simultaneously as a Book-Movie (DVD) combo. The movie was filmed on location primarily in Houston and The Woodlands, and some of Culture Shapers’ past film competition winners were crew members of the movie production — Michael Wham and Eric Smith.  » Read more…

Sculptor is Seeking Summer Apprentice

Job consists of working in a studio with sculptor as well as in the foundry for bronze casting when necessary. Work is figurative. Your duties would include anything from smoothing clay, helping to make armatures for life-size sculpture, assisting me with working waxes for the bronze process and clean up. Culture Shapers Alumni, Wenjun Liu, sells painting for $100,000!

March 19, 2007 

Congratulations to Culture Shapers Alumni, Wenjun Liu, for winning runner-up in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s art auction on Sunday, March 18th. Her painting entitled, Your Legacy, sold for $100,000. Liu gets $15,000. The painting of father and child watching a sunset was meant to represent western tradition, Liu said.

“I want to show there is great hope for future generations of Texas,” said Liu, 18, who hopes to study architecture at Cornell University in upstate New York.
