Who wants to party? If you think that a party only consists of disco lights, hip beats and vodka showers, then you are missing a lot. Everybody wants to have a good time, and these international festivals will definitely give you a new definition of fun and excitement as you experience the hottest and craziest celebrations in the world. We’ve listed three of the wildest parties in the world that are sure to give you and your friends an experience like no other.
The Three Wildest Parties in the World – Songkran (Thailand)
Get wild and wet in this annual Thailand festival that draws crowds from all over the world! The Songkran is a festival to celebrate the traditional New Year’s Day in Thailand, and thousands of tourists visit the country to witness the fun and excitement that happens during this season. From April 13 to 15, streets all around the country are thronged by crowds armed with water pistols, buckets of water and home-made water balloons (plastic wrappers filled with water) and wet each other. Others stand on their porches with a garden hose and blast themselves and passersby with water. Most tourists aren’t annoyed if they get wet; in fact, a lot of them join in the fun and get drenched as well! It is their belief that the throwing of water is a way to give respect to people during the New Year season; the act of drenching someone with water is similar to pouring blessing and good fortune on them. It is advisable to bring water-proof covering for your cameras and other electronic equipment if you’re planning to visit Thailand during this season; you’re definitely going to in for a wet time!
The Three Wildest Parties in the World – La Tomatina (Spain)
Remember when your mother used to tell you to never play with your food? Well, these guys in the small town of Buñol, Spain seem to have forgotten all about it because every year, on the last Wednesday of August, over 40,000 people come from all over the world to join the biggest food fight of all! For the entire duration of the festival, people throw crushed tomatoes at each other, resulting in a very fun and exciting game of dodge ball (which people never dodge anyway, considering that the tomatoes come flying from all directions). The festival starts with the famous “palo jabon”, which is quite similar to the greasy pole. A group of young men race to drop the ham from the top of the pole, while the people below erupt into singing and dancing. Once the ham falls to the ground, the signal is given, and all “tomato” breaks loose!
The Three Wildest Parties in the World – Rio Carnaval (Brazil)
Enjoy the dazzling parades and the display of sexy men and women clad in bright and colourful costumes during the pre-Lenten season carnival held in the marvellous city of Rio de Janeiro. This is the time of the year when the inhabitants of Rio show off Brazil’s cultural richness, as the people dance to the awesome beats of Brazilian music such as the bossa nova, the choro and the samba. Thousands of travellers flock to Rio this time of year to witness the grand parades and samba competitions. This is one festival that will totally drive you crazy with the fashion sense of these Cariocas!
