Round Up: 3 Adventures to End the Summer on a High

If you’re tired of the same old predictable all-inclusive holiday, laid on a beach nursing a hangover for a week, you might fancy doing something different this year. You might not think it, but a holiday in the UK could be exactly what you need to relax and refresh.
The UK might not have the most reliable summer weather, but it more than makes up for it with a wealth of activities and events on offer throughout the summer months. If you’re thinking of taking an action and adventure holiday with a difference, why not try out these new thinking and compelling events.
Rat Race Adventures take place across the year with a variety of events set to shake off the cobwebs and push you to your limits. With events all across the UK, you’ll find a date and location that works for you, no matter where you live!
With some events only 10K and others with a minimum of 165 miles, all levels of fitness can take part and see just how far they can push themselves. The Wall, which is described as an ‘ultra-running’ event, takes place at the end of June, while there are several River Rat Races in August!
If you’re interested in taking part in adventure racing, Questars is for you. Bored of traditional racing events, Questars offer races which include trail running, mountain biking and kayaking. Taking place between March and October, there are races all over the country, some of which are single day events, whilst others take place across a weekend.
The best thing about this race is the chance to race as a team. You can team up with your friends and use encouragement to keep each other going – you’ll need it! Questars is a tough challenge though the company do encourage both newcomers and experienced people to the events.
Now for something really unique! The Zombie Evacuation not only presents racers with a challenging 5K assault course, but makes it all the harder thanks to the horde of zombies chasing after you!
It’s a really fun race which you can do alone or as a team. There are alternative routes to take and you must navigate through a forest to reach the end. I found out about this particular race via a blog post on Fancy Dress Ball; it’s relatively new to the UK but has been gaining a huge following in the USA for a while now!
