You have your bags all packed with the clothing that you will need. Your passport is in hand as you gather your money and credit cards and prepare to depart. If you are planning a spending extravaganza, holding a platinum credit card may be a safer choice. The only question for you now, dear traveller, is where you will spend your travelling days. Is it the beauty of Macao that will see you as you land, or will you stay at the hustle and bustle of city life in Hong Kong? The option is yours, but the choices are diverse, so consider reading about the differences and similarities between these two locations before you decide to make your choice.
Both Macao and Hong Kong are located in the People’s Republic of China. These Chinese cities are both popular options for tourists and businessmen alike. Both cities are also located relatively close to one another as they sit on opposite sides of the River Delta. The river serves as a great reason to visit both cities. There can be water travel taken as a way to see both cities at the same time, or can take you just off the beaches to a point of relaxation and comfort. Though the location and region is similar, there are also differences in the structure as well.
If looking for more historical sites to travel to, Macao is a perfect option. You will spend your days visiting unique structures and elements of history in the buildings that you see. This is not just Chinese history, but a conglomeration of British history and English as well. Macao was once a Portuguese colony, and this can be seen throughout the region. There are unique fortresses to visit and temples that hold the architecture of both regions of the world. These stone structures reach into the sky and have open windows that can be looked through to the blueness of the open air. These are must visits in Macao and should be considered a highlight to travelling there.
Another reason to visit Macao is for the great night-life and fun. Though this history is great so, too, are the casinos that seem to be on every street. Gamblers and those who enjoy a few games enjoy staying close to one of the many casinos though this should not be considered as the main reason to visit. You can enjoy the casinos after a day outside travelling history, and that makes it a popular point of interest for people around the world.
Hong Kong Explained
Hong Kong is crowded to say the least. There are over one hundred thousand individuals living in each square kilometre of space. This makes it much busier than Macao that is populated, but not with the depth that Hong Kong is. Hong Kong has numerous people and that makes it a bit more complicated to navigate for the newbie, but also offers chances for greater diversity of people and more interaction. Night life pops in this city, and it hustles and bustles until late into the night and early morning hours. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, this may not be the venue. Though there are venues outside of the city that offer scenic views and beautiful greenery, but these are located a bit away. Great eateries, restaurants, and, ultimately, business are the features of this city, and a reason that individuals visit again and again.
