World Premier of first movie to be produced in the Woodlands!

Bracelet of Bordeaux World PremierThe Bracelet of Bordeaux is a mystery adventure movie for families, produced entirely in The Woodlands by our good friend and 2005 Film Juror, Frank Eakin.

Frank and his crew have created a completely unique method for creating a movie under the “community model”. Lots of young people worked behind the camera and as cast members, including some of our own Culture Shapers Film contestants. There have been some very positive advance reviews, as well as significant distribution interest. Frank says, “We hope that Bracelet will be our launching point for creating wholesome kids feature films right here in The Woodlands and Houston.”

Corporate Sponsor Needed!

November 21, 2006 | Leave a Comment

CultureShapers is looking for a Corporate Sponsor for 2007. There will be seven semi-final rounds and a final round! These young high school performers are future stars and Young Voices Of Houston provide them with potentially four years of live experience before judges.

In 2007, more than 100 students will perform before thousands of people over the eight events. The Corporate sponsor (or individual) will get their name (and logo) advertised on every event, programs, and varied publicity as well as the opportunity to present the finals winners check in the amount of $5,000, $2,500 for 2nd place, and $1,000 for 3rd.

Fully 100% of the donation (CultureShapers is a 501 c 3) is tax deductible and 95% of the funds go directly to students and judges with only 5% in administrative-misc. expenses. What charity does that? :-)

The Freshman-Sophomore Class

November 17, 2006 | 1 Comment

You’d expect juniors and seniors to dominate the competition; however, this year we had three Freshman make it into the top fifteen. Congratulations to Connor Ransimer Memorial), Joran Yang (Bellaire), and Eric Zhang (Dulles) for doing so well in your first year. Keep working, improving and the next three years could be very profitable for all of you!

We also had five Sophomores place in the top fifteen. Congrats to Stephanie Freistedt (Cy-Fair), Annie Hsiad (John Cooper), Owen Schwartzbard (Guthrie Center), Holly Steffen (Cinco Ranch), and Andy Tittle (Cy-Falls).

Seven students have the potential of walking away with $10,000! Seven students entered two events and both of their pieces made it in the top fifteen! Congratulations to Marc Drumwright the only Junior (from Cy-Fair), Kristin LaFrate (senior at Cy-Fair), Ioana Manolache (senior at Spring), Brendon moody (senior at Cy-Fair), Beback Sadri (senior at Elsik), Bless Yee (senior at Friendswood), and SiSi Zhang (senior at Bellaire).

The least amount of money that these seven will walk away with is $500: the most is $10,000! A pretty exciting night isn’t it? We’ve never had a student take first place in two categories before. Could this be the first time it happens? We’ll know in two weeks.
